Common questions

I bought the unlock and the effects are still locked.

Open Settings → Restore purchase inside Foldshot. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it still does not restore, email us with the date of purchase.

The effect does not respond when I bend the phone.

Every effect is deliberately identity when the phone is fully open — that is the untouched picture, and it is how the control teaches itself. The effect grows as you close the device. If nothing happens through the whole bend, open Settings → Diagnostics and tell us what the Fold source and Measured signal sections say.

The fold needs too big a bend.

Settings → Travel sets how far you bend to reach the full effect, from 20° to 90°. The Gentle toggle halves it.

The picture stays folded when I open the phone.

That is the Hold release mode. In Settings → Letting go, choose Follow to have the picture track the phone the whole way.

Lag and Ripple are greyed out.

Those two read a few seconds of past video. They are unavailable on an imported photo, and they are paused while your phone is cooling down. Everything else keeps working.

My phone gets warm during a long session.

Foldshot watches thermal pressure and steps down — frame rate first, then resolution, then the two time effects — so the shutter keeps working instead of the app stopping. It will tell you once, quietly, when it does.

Foldshot does not ask for photo library access.

Correct, and deliberate. Importing uses the system photo picker, which needs no access to your library at all. Saving uses add-only permission, so Foldshot can add a photo and can never read your library.

Does it work on a non-folding iPhone?

Yes. The axis sits at the centre of the screen and tilting the device drives the effect. Every effect is available.
